Carpet classification
Centexbel is recognized by the European Carpet and Rug Association (ECRA) for the classification of carpets.
As a consumption good, carpets are submitted to the regulations concerning product responsibility
The European Directive requires:
- conformity with description
- suited for normally expected use
As building materials, carpets are submitted to CE-labeling
The European Directive is the basis of the harmonized product standard EN 14041
Essential requirements :
- burning behaviour
- emission of pentachlorophenol
- emission of formaldehyde
- electrostatic behaviour
- heat conductivity
- slip resistance
Normal use of carpets = voluntary classification systems
European Standards
- EN 1307 for woven, knitted and tufted carpets
- EN 1470 for flat neelde felt carpets
- EN 13297 for structured needle felt carpets
- EN 14215 for mechanically produced carpets
