Change2Bio
The call for a "Green Economy", using renewable raw materials as much as possible, sounds increasingly louder throughout our society. Although the oil-based chemical and plastic industries represent merely a fraction (< 5 %) of the worldwide oil consumption, it is extremely important that also the producers and processors of plastics maximally support the development of high level and sustainable materials based on renewable raw materials, by transforming these renewable raw materials into fully-blown and sustainable end products, that will be applied just because of their specific and positive properties. This innovation will not be for tomorrow; it will take several decades to develop a bio-based economy.
It is therefore essential to make the first move in the direction of this sustainable development and to stimulate the involved sectors to take the lead on the basis of accurate and well-founded information! Moreover, these developments have an outspoken international and cross-sectoral character.

Nowadays, it is a bit precarious to quantify the "ECO" impact. Because of the eco-hype, marketeers are massively using the "GREEN' theme, often spreading false information. Even to that extent that the notion of "Green Washing" (in reference to Brain-Washing) is being used more and more frequently.
Objectives of the TIS-action change2bio:
- monitoring of international developments
- interpretation and treatment of the information in function of the target group
- informing the target group accurately
- organising the networking between the target group and the entire "polymer chain"
- stimulating the target group to participate in collective and European consortium
- informing and accompanying of the target group in individual initiatives related to the application of renewable plastics or their derived materials
- generating relevant and well-founded information about the "ECO" impact of developments
