The France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen programme: 5 French and Belgian regions working together to fade out borders.
The programme for European Territorial Cooperation Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen finds its origin in the willingness to stimulate economic and social exchanges between five border regions: Hauts-de-France and Grand Est in France; Wallonia, Occidental and Oriental Flanders in Belgium.
The programme aims to join common expertises and to valorize the possibilities of each involved region, to the benefit of the population in the region.
The programme will receive a total budget of 170 miljoen euros from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD) to finance those projects that are supporting the 4 themes of the cooperation:
- research, innovation and technology transfer
- competitiveness of pme's
- patrimony, natural resources and risk management
- social cohesion, public health, education and employment
