Microbiological tests
Textiles have always played a major role in human hygiene. Textiles provide a barrier against all kinds of germs or serve as bandage or plaster… Modern surgery uses textile "stents" and "scaffolds" degradable or not by the human body.
Unfortunately textiles may sometimes cause contaminations or diseases.
The microbiological testing lab of Centexbel, located in Verviers, is fully equipped to assess antibacterial and antifungal properties of (treated) textiles. The lab also performs tests on biological degradability, barrier properties against micro-organisms, particles, laster rays in operation theatres... and the microbiological hygiene of medical textiles...
Centexbel also disposes of a brand new super modern cytotoxic laboratory (cytotoxity is the damaging or destruction of body cells (= cytes), generally by damaging the cell membrane). Possible causes are drugs such as certain cancer drugs, poisons and certain harmful additives used in textiles!
