Mission Statement

  • Centexbel desires to be a leading knowledge and innovation centre for textiles in Europe, with central issues that are recognized and used on both a national and international level.
  • Centexbel's activities are in line with the search of national and international for a knowledge provider, innovation and service partner in the framework of their Belgian activities that are taking place within the value chain of design, production, textile finishing and the application of fibres.
  • Centexbel's "stakeholders" (members, customers, personnel, authorities, partners, society...) are involved in the activities of the institution, while guaranteeing a total independence, confidentiality and professional approach.

Strategic objectives

The mission is made more concrete by several objectives of a strategic nature:

  • Centexbel supports the entire technological innovation in the textile sector by providing a balanced offer of activities in the field of Research & Development, Services (including testing) transgressing its regional offices.
  • as a Belgian centre, Centexbel has to occupy an international position by emphasizing its activities correctly and by actively taking part in the most significant projects and networks.
  • Centexbel's activities on behalf of its members are complemented with the ones for non-members in Belgium and abroad with an added value for the members. Commercial activities contribute to the financial balance of the institution
  • the activities in the field of research and services are approached in a proactive manner, with a temporal and geographical horizon answering to the present and future needs of the sector. Co-operations optimizing the performances of the institute are actively traced and developed
  • the good relationship with Centexbel's stakeholders reinforces the institute's autonomy and reputation. This relationship expresses the common values of the organisation.

Common values

The common values of an organisation constitute the criteria that all collaborators considered to be important for the interested parties of the organisation (stakeholders: Fedustria, members, clients, personnel, financing organisations, partners, society...).
During a consultative session with the higher staff members, six concepts between many important values have been selected as most important common values for Centexbel:

  • customer-oriented
  • an agreement is an agreement
  • cost-consciousness
  • professionalism
  • creativity
  • team spirit / collegiality

The respect of these common values is evaluated during the annual evaluation of the personnel.

Internal structure

The concept of the unit structure introduced by the previous strategic plan on April 21st 1998 has been replaced by a matrix structure on January 1st 2003.
The implementation took place in the first semester of 2003.
The key-notions of this structure are:

  • integration
  • communication
  • professionalism

These lines of force have been chosen keeping in mind that it is only by uniting all knowledge and competences that it will be possible to mobilize the necessary critical mass to answer quickly and efficiently the questions of members and customers.
A better internal and external communication stresses the commercial features more distinctively. A better monitoring of means and quality is necessary for the return in the short term and for the future growth.
A matrix structure is a contemporary answer for organisations desiring to promote the networking and the responsibility and professionalism of its collaborators. A clear description of the processes and the working with projects are its building stones, much more than structures and competences.
