Functionalising UV-coatings for textile applications

The world economy has undergone a dramatic change during the last ten years. The rapid growth of new economies, such as China, has also had a strong impact on the textile market. The fierce competition from low wage countries forces Belgian companies into making strategic choices to preserve their trade volume and growth.

These choices are mainly directed at efficiency and innovation of the production process.

A socially broader ecologic awareness and the introduction of the European REACH directive in June 2007 are opening additional
perspectives to new technologies, emphasizing an ecologically and economically efficient system that increases the added value. UV-technology offers a perfect answer to all these criteria.

UV-COATING is a revolutionary, photchemical process: ultraviolet light is already being successfully applied since the ‘60’s to cure inks,
coatings, adhesives and other materials in different industrial sectors such as the graphic, wood, automotive, telecommunication... sectors.

It offers an interesting alternative to conventional water and solvent-based processes by using 100% systems and aqueous formula.
