Centexbel supports the producers of synthetic yarns and the companies processing these yarns for technical applications where the physical-chemical properties are crucial. In close collaboration with this target group and with European research partners, producers and suppliers of raw materials, machine and lab equipment manufacturers, Centexbel studies the innovation opportunities within this field.

Extrusion companies of multifilament yarns, fibres and tapes and the processing companies are forced to create quality products that are less affected by the competition from low wage countries. Therefore these companies need practical information on international developments, support in translating their ideas into concrete innovation projects and information on financing programmes.

Centexbel’s technological consultants support the companies in developing new products, in their product diversification efforts and in the creation of special and/or high-tech products with a high added value.

The Technological Consultancy Service Yarn engineering gives valuable and efficient advice to the producers and processors of synthetic yarns and encourages them to initiate innovation project, if possible with the financial support of the government (GTA, SME programme, R&D projects, IRC, collective research…).

Major research themes are bicomponent extrusion, nanotechnology, carbon nanotubes, new stabilizers, frisé heat set, elastic yarns and biopolymers.

Moreover, with its extrusion platform, Centexbel offers the possibility to develop and evaluate new products.
