STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified production facilities can now measure and report their carbon emissions and water usage impact at the facility level, by processing step or per 1kg of material.

As part of its Roadmap to Excellence, the STeP by OEKO-TEX® programme has developed a simple, user-friendly digital Carbon and Water Footprint Tool.

The Carbon and Water Footprint Tool has been launched!

How to calculate facility and supply chain impact? Get to know the new Impact Calculator to measure Carbon and Water footprint.

8th of February 2022, Timing 3:00pm – 4pm CET

It’s time the Fashion Industry takes action on Climate & Water

The apparel sector is a key contributor to global emissions - and must take action now. Limiting global warming to 1.5ºC requires rapid and measurable action at scale. Production facilities have a critical role to play in achieving the industry’s goals to reduce water usage and carbon emissions 30% by 2030.

Calculate and report carbon and water footprint with new tool within STeP by OEKO-TEX®

The Carbon and Water Footprint allows you to identify the processes with the highest environmental impact, to formulate measures to reduce water and energy consumption and to communicate the results to your customers.

OEKO-TEX® used the Screening Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach to develop this tool.

The CO2 emissions are calculated by an internationally recognized database (IPCC 2013 100a approach) and water impacts are calculated by means of the AWARE methodology.

The is available to any company holding a STeP by OEKO-TEX® certificate, participation is voluntary.
