Certifying Recycled Content

As an accredited testing lab and certification body, Centexbel plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the reliability and credibility of recycled content certification. By partnering with PolyCert Europe, we help companies align with harmonized standards for quality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance in the plastics industry.

What’s in It for Your Company?

By obtaining Centexbel’s accredited certification, your company will be fully compliant with the latest regulations that mandate certified recycled content. This not only helps you meet legal requirements but also strengthens your market position, enhances your brand reputation, and reassures customers of your commitment to sustainability and quality.

Underlying standards

The Centexbel QA-CER recycled content scheme is based on the European standard EN 15343, which defines the way in which the recycled content of a product is determined. The chain of custody model underlying this calculation is a controlled mixture model as described in ISO 22095.

Traceablity at the core

Traceability is an essential part of the certification process. As a company, it is therefore essential to be able to demonstrate the provenance of the recycled material used in the production process. In order to verify the traceability of materials, it is necessary to obtain an approved supplier certificate that confirms the origin of the recycled material in question.

For Whom?

  • Companies sorting and recycling post-industrial and post-consumer waste of plastics, textiles or composites.
  • Plastics processors, textile and composite producers using post-industrial and post-consumer waste of plastics, textiles or composites.
  • Assembly companies that make composite products using recyclate from plastic parts or textiles.

Why?

  • Increase the use of recycled materials in your company.
  • Ensure the quality of both recyclate and recycled content.
  • You would like to demonstrate your sustainability efforts in a transparent way.
  • You want to increase consumer confidence in products containing recycled material, which is often considered to be of inferior quality.
