West Flanders companies from the entire textile value chain are facing new challenges. The arrival of very ambitious and strict European objectives such as the selective collection of textiles, increasing reuse, using recyclates ... require an innovative, sustainable approach.

Actions

  1. Demonstration of local case studies with circular textile solutions for apparel textiles, technical textiles & interior textiles within the “Community New Materials” ecosystem
  2. Investments in machinery and the development of algorithms and processes for the identification and separation of macroscopic interfering components.
  3. Recycling of synthetic textile fibres through thermomechanical and chemical routes.

Role of the project partners

Within the project, we are responsible for expanding the New Materials community. Together, we are building the sustainable future of the textile and plastics processing industry in West Flanders. 

By smartly joining our forces and sharing our knowledge with companies and experts, we will achieve results that are Spectacularly Circular.

This project is part of the GTI West Flanders and is supported by EFRO Flanders and the Innovation and Enterprise Fund. The total project cost amounts to €1,296,000, of which €646,400 is European funding from EFRO, €291,600 comes from the Innovation and Enterprise Fund, and €13,781.25 from provincial resources provided by the Province of West Flanders.
