ID-ADD
Context
If textile, plastics and recycling companies are to meet the ambitious targets set by the European Commission, they need to be able to guarantee that their products at the end of life
- do not contain prohibited substances
- still meet the required product properties
- do not cause bad odours
Identifying additives in recyclates
CENTEXBEL-VKC wants to support companies through this project by setting up an additional lab - ST4RLAB - with the necessary equipment to test materials at end-of-life for the presence or absence of harmful substances, degradation products formed during production or use that lead to inferior properties and thus an inferior product as well as odour.
Aim
Support textile, plastic and recycling companies in recycling textile and plastic products by detecting and identifying harmful additives and degradation products.
Dedicated ST4RLab
By setting up this lab within the ID-ADD project, more products can be recycled into high-quality products (no downcycling) and fewer new raw materials will have to be used. For companies, this also means a valorisation of their industrial as well as consumer waste and thus benefits their business.
Financing
The ID-ADD project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and co-financed by the Province of East Flanders.
- Budget: 2.168.000 euro
