The Standards Antenna Technical & Functional supports the technical textiles subsector. This sector includes geotextiles (used in road construction, hydraulic engineering, drainage and landfill), agrotextiles and construction textiles (tensile structures).

Technical textiles are also applied in industry (e.g. filter cloths), sports fields (artificial turf) or technical clothing (protection, special corporate clothing).

Standardisation related to technical textiles

In the field of standardisation, the technical textiles sector is highly subject to product specifications and legal requirements imposed by various European directives (construction products, protective equipment, medical devices).

These directives require the manufacturers of these products to substantiate their product claims, that the product does not endanger the safety of the public and that the product itself has no harmful side effects. In addition, the properties of the product must be sufficiently durable and resistant to sometimes extreme conditions of use.
