2 Euro Parcel Tax
Parcel Tax of €2
This morning, the news was announced that a €2 tax will be applied to orders from non-European webshops. This measure is part of the federal government’s budget agreement and is welcomed by Fedustria, the federation for textile, wood, and furniture companies.
Fedustria can only applaud this,” the organization states. It criticizes the “flood” of parcels from Chinese platforms such as Shein, Temu, and AliExpress. “Studies by our expertise center Centexbel have already shown that these parcels barely meet European product standards and, in some cases, were even dangerous. This completely contradicts all principles of fair competition,” emphasizes CEO Karla Basselier.
Our Battle against cheap imports
Centexbel’s role in the “battle” against cheap imports from outside the EU is not only about screening and analyzing (high-risk) imports, but also about fortifying the competitiveness, quality, and innovation capacity of the European textile and plastics industry.
Challenge us
Centexbel “fights cheap imports” by empowering the EU textile and plastics sector to outperform, out-innovate, and out-qualify them.
