On March 10, 2026, the CMC in Kortrijk welcomed an international delegation consisting of Anna Lia Flores, Circular Economy Manager, and Cara Livia, both visiting from Buenos Aires. They were accompanied by Emma Tilquin and Frederik Van Hecke from Enabel. The visit focused on the broad topic of circular economy in the textile industry, addressing both technological and regulatory aspects as well as material processing challenges.

A Comprehensive Programme on Circular Textile Processes

The delegation was first welcomed by Davy Van Cauwenberghe, who offered a clear and concise overview of the CMC’s capabilities. His presentation included numerous practical examples, helping to translate abstract circularity concepts into tangible applications.

Following this, Edwin Maes conducted an extensive session on the relevant legislation and evolving standardisation frameworks. This deep dive offered visitors valuable insight into the regulatory challenges and opportunities facing the textile sector in its transition toward circularity.

Pol Lombaert then introduced Centexbel and presented several basic recycling roadmaps developed by our R&D department. These step-by-step approaches demonstrate how different textile streams can be effectively processed within circular value chains.

Strong Impressions and Future Potential

The visitors expressed great appreciation for the expertise and facilities at Centexbel, as well as for the strong network of research collaborations. They highlighted in particular our close partnerships with KU Leuven and VTT, both of which they had visited earlier in the week.
