Context

Microorganisms are devastating for textile materials, when their number is not kept under control or in the event of a poor maintenance of e.g. bedding items (sheets, mattrass pads...).

Microorganisms in textiles cause several problems including deterioration of the fabric, aspect changes (spots, colour change and decoloration), odours, and may even induce health problems, such as allergies.

Resistance to the bacterial growth

Standard

BS 6085 – part 4 : Determination of the resistance of textiles to microbiological deterioration - Agar plate test using bacteria

Tested efficiency
