TABER® Abrasion tester
Principle
The rotating abrasion tester is used to test accelerated wear on a large variety of materials. This testing equipment is appropriate to evaluate almost all flat materials.
Testing procedure
A sample of 10 cm x 10 cm with a maximum thickness of 6 mm, is fixed on a horizontal rotating wheel and submitted to wear by abrasive wheels.
Several types of abrasion wheels are available.
- The test is run during a fixed period of time with a determined number of rotation
- The sample is visually inspected or weighed to determine the amount of material that has been removed
Testing applications
- Abrasion resistance of coatings
- Abrasion resistance of plastics
