This test is designed to address the dangers associated with thin and flexible layers of plastic sheeting (plastic wrap and plastic balloons).
When covering a child's face or when inhaled, plastic sheeting can cause suffocation. It can also stick to a child's mouth or nose, making it impossible to breathe.
Principle
- Plastic bags are cut along the seams without stretching the bag, so that two single sheets are produced.
- Plastic balloons: the double sheets are measured.
The thickness of the sheets is measured at 10 equidistant points across the diagonal of the area.
The result is the average of the measurements.
