Braiding

Our textile platform is equipped with a 4-layer interlock braiding machine, capable of producing structures with a diameter of up to 4 meters and a horizontal draw length of 6 meters. Each layer consists of 64 bobbins, interlacing to form a tightly braided structure of 256 yarns.

The braiding angle can be precisely adjusted to tailor the mechanical strength of the final product. In addition to the 256 braided yarns, the system also allows for the integration of up to 256 unidirectional yarns along the main axis of the structure, inserted between the braided layers. These unidirectional yarns provide targeted reinforcement, enhancing the structure’s resistance to specific mechanical stresses.

This versatile equipment can process both natural fibres - such as flax - and high-performance fibres like glass or carbon. Once braided, the structures are ready for resin injection.
