Crookedness after washing according to ISO 16322-3Crookedness refers specifically to the misalignment of weft or filling yarns from their intended perpendicular orientation to the warp or lengthwise direction. |
Physical lab |
Cross-Cut Test according to ISO 2409 / ASTM D3359The cross-cut test is a method to determine the resistance of paints and coatings to peeling from substrates. A right-angled grid pattern is cut into the coating, penetrating to the substrate. |
Plastic characterization |
Cut resistance of Protective Gloves according to EN 388:2016 & TDM-100Technical and high performance fibres are used to achieve a very high level of cut resistance. In order to take account of continuous innovation and material development, the test procedures for assessing the mechanical resistance of protective gloves have been adapted. |
Physical lab |
Detecting genetically modified fibres according to ISO/TS 5354-2:2024Methods based on the PCR technique (polymerase chain reaction) can differentiate between wool, cashmere, yak wool and their blends and detect GMO cotton. |
Microbiology |
Detecting PFAS with Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC)CIC is a screening method that measures the total fluorine content in a material. Instead of identifying individual PFAS chemicals, it answers a practical question: “How much fluorine — and therefore possible PFAS — is in this material?” |
ST4RLab |
Determination of permeability of fabrics to air according to EN-ISO 9237Air permeability is a widely used test which measures how easily air is passed through fabric and helps to indicate the fabric’s breathability, particularly for wind-resistant, weather-resistant and waterproof fabrics. |
Physical lab |
Determination of Phthalates in toys and childcare products according to CPSC-CH-C1001-09.4The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) developed this standard method to determine the concentration of phthalates in children’s toys and childcare articles. Phthalates are chemical plasticizers used to soften plastics like PVC, but several are regulated due to potential health risks, including reproductive and developmental toxicity. |
Chemical lab |
Determination of torque according to EN71-1 §8.3This test is conducted to prevent the choking hazard associated with unintentional inhalation of toys when a child puts them in the mouth. |
Physical lab |
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to ISO 11357-1DSC is a versatile and essential method for characterizing the thermal behavior of plastics. It provides valuable insights for quality control, material identification, processing conditions, and performance prediction of polymer products. |
Plastic characterization |
Dimensional changes and stability of textile floor coverings according to ISO 2551Method to determine the dimensional changes and dimensional stability of textile floor coverings when they are exposed to certain heat and moisture conditions. |
Floor & wallcovering |
Accreditation
Centexbel is EN ISI/IEC 17025 accredited by BELAC (the Belgian accreditation body).
Our laboratories are known for their:
- vast testing offer including several tests that are unique in Europe
- professional advice
- thorough knowledge and follow-up of international standardisation and legislation
- continuous updating and expansion of testing equipment, testing methods, and database of chemical compounds
- accredited tests involving an annual severe audit of all our laboratories
- conditions in conformity with the market
056-TEST scope granted by BELAC
The scope consists of a fixed scope, including test and product standards, and of a flexible scope, where no specific reference to the standard is included.
Flexible Scope
Accredited tests included in the flexible scope have a specific code mentioned in the first column (e.g. B001). Centexbel has a detailed list of these tests where a direct link between the specific codes, the test and product standards can be found.
On page 30/31 of the 056-TEST scope, BELAC states:
The laboratory is authorized to determine, under accreditation, the measured properties/parameters belonging to the specified group of measured properties/parameters for the products/matrices belonging to the specified group of products/matrices, using methods that utilize the specified test or measurement principle or measurement technique. This authorization is granted on the condition that appropriate validation and/or verification has been performed in accordance with the overall validation and/or verification concept, as established in the laboratory's management system and the provisions of BELAC 2-002 and BELAC 2-101. The laboratory maintains, for each applicant, an updated and detailed list of the specific tests (in terms of specific measured properties/parameters belonging to the specified group of measured properties/parameters, specific products/matrices belonging to the specified group of products/matrices, and specific test methods) performed under accreditation.
Authenticity of Centexbel certificates and reports
