This test is designed to address the dangers associated with sharp edges. It only covers metal and glass edges, not plastic edges.
A self-adhesive tape is attached to a mandrel which is then rotated for a single 360° revolution along the accessible edge being tested. The tape is then examined for the length of cut.
If the length of the cut on the tape is more than 50% of the full tape the toy to be tested is considered sharp.
