Plastics characterisation, processing & recycling

In ReFOIL industrially relevant case studies are developed in which some of the common streams of multi-layered packaging waste (consisting of polyesters, polyolefins, polyamides, intermediate layers, e tc.) will be studied.

sIRoPAD

With the new sIRoPAD, Centexbel-VKC is now able to perform Near Infrared measurements to assess the composition of plastic samples directly from production or recycling.
This apparatus is suited for all non-black plastic flakes, granules or pellets up to ca. 100 grams per sample. The maximum measuring time is less than 15 minutes!

The RECY-COMPOSITE project addresses the problems related to the mechanical and chemical recycling of composite materials (pyrolysis and solvolysis) and the energy recovery if recycling is not possible. The applied research is conducted on the production waste stream of thermo-curing composites and of end-of-life in thermo-curing and thermoplastic composite materials.
